Activities, nature & community life

Community

Vista Antigua is more than a place to live; it is a community shaped by the interests, experiences, and friendships of the people who live here.

This section highlights activities and opportunities that Vista Antigua homeowners enjoy together—within our own community and throughout San Miguel de Allende. These may include social gatherings, outdoor activities, shared interests, learning experiences, and opportunities to volunteer and contribute to the wider community.

Homeowners are invited to share activities, interests, and experiences that have brought them enjoyment, learning, friendship, or a stronger connection with their neighbors. Suggestions for future additions to this section are welcome.

Vista Antigua Community

Vecinos con Cócteles

Residents gather informally each Saturday at 4:30 PM at the Vista Antigua amphitheater on Paseo Vista Antigua. Join neighbors for conversation, community information, and a little chisme. All residents are welcome.

Seasonal Fiestas

Our Homeowners Association sponsors seasonal fiestas, welcoming all homeowners to share traditional food, drinks, and entertainment while fostering community inclusion and intercultural awareness.

Birdwatching at Vista Antigua

Gardens, terraces, flowers, trees, and feeders offer opportunities to watch birds close to home. Look for hummingbirds, sparrows, migratory songbirds, and birds of prey. What you see will change with the seasons.

What Might You See?

Hummingbirds, warblers, kinglets, and other songbirds may be seen at different times of year. Share observations and photographs with the Website Editor at website@vistaantiguahoa.org for future seasonal updates.

Birds Photographed at Vista Antigua

Homeowner photographs show the birds visiting our gardens. Identifications marked probable or possible are tentative; clearer views may help confirm them.

The homeowner has seen this species here before.Recognize its bright yellow belly, brown wings and back, white throat, bold black eye stripe, and white stripe above the eye. This vocal flycatcher eats insects, fruit, and sometimes small animals. Its loud call sounds like “kis-ka-dee.”Generally a year-round resident within its range. Males and females look alike, so the sex cannot be determined reliably from this photograph.Photo contributed by George Michelson.Learn more and hear its call — Cornell Lab of Ornithology

Probable House Finches — Pinzones MexicanosHaemorhous mexicanus · identification tentativePhotographed on October 11, 2026. The reddish coloring on the outer birds suggests male House Finches; the brown center bird may be a female or immature bird. The photograph is backlit, so individual identifications remain uncertain. The center bird's boldly patterned back may also belong to a House Sparrow, but its hidden head and breast prevent confirmation. The dark bird on the right may be a cowbird (tordo); its species cannot be confirmed from this view.Photo contributed by George Michelson.Compare House Sparrow markings — Cornell Lab

Bird feeders can also attract hawks that hunt smaller birds. Watching from a distance lets these wild birds behave naturally.

A Note About Windows

Birds may mistake reflections in glass for open space. If collisions occur, consider visible patterns or other bird-safe treatments on the outside of the glass.

Seasonal updates of birdwatching will be provided.
